Group buys

A group buy pools everyone’s order for one product so the group hits a better price tier, then the organizer pays the vendor once and reships to each person. Tally runs the whole thing from a single post in your group topic.

For members

1. Join with a quantity

Tap ✅ Join ×1, ×2, ×5 or ×10 on the buy post. Tap 🔢 Other for any number up to 99. Tapping a number when you’re already in just changes your quantity.

Every tap replies with your estimate at today’s headcount, for example ✅ 4 units on PPD-GB-2026-0002 · ~$115.20 at today's headcount. The estimate moves as people join, because shipping and any lab-test fee are split evenly.

The first time you join, Tally sends you a short DM. If it can’t (you’ve never opened the bot), the tap shows a link that opens it. Do that once; it’s how you’ll get your pay instructions later.

2. Watch the post

The post is the single source of truth and updates itself: units toward the target, the price tier you’re on, how many units to the next one, and the close date if there is one. Tally also posts in the topic when the buy crosses a tier or reaches its target.

3. Pay when it closes

When the organizer closes the buy, amounts freeze and you get a DM with your exact amount and a wallet address. 💸 Pay instructions on the post re-sends them if the DM didn’t arrive. The amount ends in a few unique cents so your payment can be matched to you; send exactly that figure.

Pay, then tap 📤 I paid on the post and reply with the transaction id or a screenshot. Payments in USDC or USDT on Solana are confirmed automatically within minutes; anything else the organizer confirms by hand.

4. Address and tracking

Right after your payment is in, Tally asks for your shipping address by DM, offering your saved one if you have it. /address shows or clears the saved address. Addresses only ever appear in the organizer’s DM and are deleted 30 days after the organizer closes the buy out.

When the organizer ships yours you get a DM with the tracking number and, for UPS, USPS, FedEx and DHL, a link.

For organizers

You need to be an admin of the group. Give Tally the Pin messages and Manage topics rights so it can pin the post and name the topic by stage.

1. Start a buy

Run /buy in the topic where the buy should live. Tally posts a placeholder there and walks you through eight questions by DM: product, price (one price or tiers like 53 / 48@10 / 45@50), target units, close date, inbound shipping estimate, reship fee per person, an optional lab-test fee split across payers, and which wallets people may pay to.

After your first buy, the shipping-estimate, reship-fee, test-fee and wallet steps offer ↩️ Same as last. Buys from a PDF price list work the same way from the 📄 Upload PDF catalog button on the first step.

2. While it’s open

The post updates itself. /managebuy <number> is your panel: who’s in, their units and estimates, and every action as a button. From it you can set or change the ⏰ Close date, the 🔬 Test fee, ✏️ Rename the buy, and toggle wallets.

If you set a close date, Tally posts a warning in the topic inside the last 24 hours and DMs you a 🔒 Close button when the date arrives. Nothing closes by itself.

3. Close and collect

Tap 🔒 Close (organizer) on the post or 🔒 Close on the panel. Tally asks for the actual inbound shipping cost (reply same to keep the estimate), freezes every amount at the tier the group reached, and DMs each payer their instructions.

Payment claims arrive in your DM with ✅ Confirm and ❌ Reject. Solana stablecoin payments confirm themselves. The panel also lets you mark someone paid, drop them, or mark them defaulted. When everyone’s in, tap 🧾 Vendor paid.

4. Ship

While the order is on its way, 📅 ETA on the panel puts a line on the post so nobody has to ask.

When goods arrive, tap 📦 Goods arrived. Tally asks anyone still missing an address. /labels <number> gives you every address in one copyable block. Mark people shipped one at a time, or tap 📦 Bulk shipped and paste lines like @user 1Z999AA10123456784 (or all to mark everyone with an address shipped without tracking). Each person gets a DM.

When the last person is shipped, Tally offers ✅ Close out, then posts a summary card: people, units, collected, days start to finish, and what the tier saved.

5. Link the lab test

If the buy carries a test fee, run the test through the lab tests flow and link it from the panel with 🔬 Link test. The post shows the test’s stage, and when results publish they land in the buy’s topic and every participant gets a DM.

The daily digest

Once a day after 15:00 UTC, if anything needs your hand, Tally DMs you one message: unpaid people, claims waiting, addresses missing, people to ship, overdue close dates — each buy with a button to its panel. Quiet days send nothing.
